Tuesday - Have at it!!!

Today's cover pic - just one of Oregon's 50+ covered bridges. I don't have any idea why the Beaver State has such an affinity with covered bridges... but it does! They're scattered throughout the state but the greatest number is clustered in the south Willamette Valley. Today's pic is the Earnest Bridge, located on the Mohawk River east of Eugene. I wasn't looking for anything special when I stumbled across it but it caught my eye and I felt obligated to stop and get a shot. I'm not sure how old this one is but I think most of Oregon's covered bridges have been rebuilt at some point.

After seeing what happened in Oklahoma, I'm so glad I'm here on the West Coast! Weather has started to arrive here in the swamp... sprinkling this morning but rain coming. The talking heads are still insisting that the mountains are getting snow so I guess I'll stay close to home and keep my head down. I'm right at 1000 feet elevation and the prediction is for 4000 feet or so... no threat here. It's gonna be about 20 degrees colder but the only concern down here is a thunderstorm and the hail that might come along with it. When we get past this I'll probably put my tomatoes in the ground. They're getting to be too big for their pots... time for 'em to be on their own. I've got all my flowers in so now all I have to do is sit back and watch them grow.

Mariposa - How's the niece doing?

Those covered bridges are something! I've lived here all my life, and never have seen one. Guess we just never ventured into the 'countryside'. I Googled covered bridges once, but the directions to find them were laughable.

After seeing the tornado devastation I too am glad to live here. Of course the threat of the BIG earthquake still hangs over us.
Still, that could happen 50 years from now.

Got wet on the bike ride but we were coming back and were within a mile of our house, so no problem. It's not cold out and that helps.

Carol - Despite the incoming weather, it's been a pretty nice day. I got barely damp going out to lunch... and got really wet coming back. It's really kind of peaceful though, getting home & listening to the sound of rain on the skylights. I think I'm going to mix me one and call it a day... early.

Mr Ed My niece is doing much better. Who would have thought that her meds don't mix well with booze. I can only hope she does not do something this stupid again. I not sure my sister can handle much more of the stress.
