Oh happy Sunday! How's the holiday weekend going for you?
Went out to dinner with Auntie Em after spending a couple of hours just talking and listening to her prattle on. She seems happier than she was the last time I was down. But, I was the villain and she was pretty upset with me on that trip. Her focus seems to have changed quite a bit now which is great. The last time I was down, her entire day was centered around the card games and that social circle. Now, she's on her feet more and is using her walker less. She still uses it for LONG walks like to the cafeteria but she no longer uses a chair to go for meals. It hasn't been that long but she is stronger. She's still afraid of falling but she's moving with more confidence. On her longer walks, she has an attendant right with her if she needs help. Overall, I'm optimistic! And, I haven't heard her complain about being sore or being unable to do what the therapists are making her do. If we can just keep her focused she'll probably outlive me. She's one tough old bird! And, she now LOVES the water aerobics! I think her friend, Dorothy, has had a lot to do with that. They're so cuuuuuttte together!
The halo in today's cover pic is caused by a combination of Cirrus clouds and ice crystals. The sunlight refracts off the ice crystals causing the halo effect.
I had planned on going home later today but I'm going to wait until Monday. There's no rush and I'm actually enjoying being here with Auntie Em. ☺
From the Great Southwest Desert(Las Vegas), tonight's Flower Moon. It's also known as the Strawberry Moon and the Rose Moon. This month's full moon is the first of three Supermoons in a row... months where the moon's orbit is at its closest to earth during the full moon.
Mr Ed, so glad Auntie Em is doing so well. Having you there just makes it better for her. Nice you took her to dinner, I'm sure she doesn't get to restaurants too often.
Good idea to stay over the weekend. Are the planes loaded?
Sad news on Friday, my brother-in-law died of a brain aneurism. It happened so fast and he really was DOA for all purposes when he arrived at the hospital. They took him to Las Vegas as it was closer than Phoenix.
Carol - So sorry to hear about your brother-in-lw. Aneurisms are known as the "silent killer". They're really hard to detect and it's just like a balloon bursting when they let go. I have too much personal history with 'em. I'm due to go back in soon for another echo-cardiogram to see how mine's doing. (fingers crossed!)
Yes, you just never know. Any one of us could have that happen as you found out....you were so fortunate that you received help in time. His was too severe to be helped. He was in a coma when he arrived at the hospital and was put on a ventilator but there was a huge loss of brain activity so they took him off the ventilator.
Carol - I was lucky because mine wasn't anywhere close to my brain. That's why I was a survivor. Again.... sorry for your family's loss.
Carol so very sorry to her of your brother-in-laws passing.
Carol - My aneurism didn't burst. I had what was called a disection... My aorta's outer wall separated from the inner core when the inner core split lengthwise. That allowed blood to just ooze through the outer wall rather than free-flow. It was not a "normal" aneurism rupture but it bought me a lot of time & that's why I'm among the 10% who survive it. I got lucky!
