Holy MERDE! It's Hump Day!!! Can any other day by any other name be as sweet?
Today's cover shot is another of my roses that always survive & bloom despite being highly favored as deer candy. I have never figured out why the deer just leave some roses alone and will chomp everything that sprouts on another neighboring rose. Theoretically, they should all taste the same since they all smell alike. But... that's not the case according to bambi's taste buds.
Have yourself a bodacious Wednesday! I'm hoping for blue skies & warm temperatures but I'll settle for anything I get as long as it's not cold and rainy. As if I have any choice......
BTW - Did you notice the Aphid on the stalk of the right hand bud? I can't provide you much more detail than that!!!!
Welcome to summer we are expecting a high temp of over 90 today.
We're only expecting a high in the low 80s today but I've got no complaints with that. I have confidence that it will be raining by the weekend! :o)
Carol - Left over from yesterday: Several so called "weather experts" are predicting that this winter and the next two after that will be an extremely cold ones for the U.S. They say the rapid succession of repeated El Nino - La Nina years combined with this year's intense sun spots is following a pattern last seen in the late 70s and the winters were brutal. Of course they don't say WHERE in the U.S. this will occur.
I hope we get our new building soon. I hear we just may have heat in the winter.
Mariposa - You haven't mentioned Freddy the Freeloader in quite a while. How's he doing or has he departed?
Today is truly a summer day. I got all my outdoor activities done this morning and it was so nice out.
Carl, these weather patterns are fun to look at but who knows what can be predicted from the past. I guess we will just get what we get but the last few years our summers were just blah. I remember the grey, summer of 1962...hardly a day with any sun. Also remember the horrendous snow storms of the 50's and 60's. We haven't had anything like that in recent years (fingers crossed).
Your cover picture is beautiful. The peace rose is my very favorite.
Carl Freddy has his moments. Lately I have wanted to strangle him, but then I would be depriving some village of its idiot.
Carol - You're right of course about the predictability of weather based on history. I laugh even harder when they spout the line "computer models show that....". Computers only show what they are fed. Garbage in, garbage out! I put my faith in the wooly bear caterpillar!
I remember one summer (in the 90s I think) where the sun only rarely made an appearance. It was so damp & humid that the grass actually developed rust with big patches showing up reddish brown... but still alive. Oregon weather is so much FUN!
Mariposa - Is Freddy still on the truck?
This is a slide-show of six more shots of my favorite subject... Roses in the rain. The shots are of three different blossoms on one bush. These shots were taken several days after the first rose-in-the-rain pic I posted. This particular rose shows very well in the rain... much better than any of my others. It's probably because of the rich color.
