Tuesday! And that's a fact so don't waste it. It's the only one we get this week so let's enjoy it to the max!
Today's cover shot is of a Pink, a common feature in many flower beds. What makes this flower stand out is that the Pink (Dianthus) blossom is edible! They have a mild clove like taste that goes well with tea or cider and can be used in baking or cooking. They make a very pretty and edible garnish when added to fruit salad. Man! The things you learn in this place.

Dear Hubby graduates from his PRIDE class tonight. I'm not exactly sure what it stands for, but it is a citizen unit for the local police dept. All I can think of is the movie Police Academy Citizens on Patrol.
The son is 19. I know you can't fix stupid, but I hope he grows out of it soon.

Just the mention of "Police Academy" brings a big grin to my face. But seriously, does Pride involve ride-alongs? If so, your hubby should bring some interesting tales home from that!
Your son is college bound this fall?
Carl the PRIDE unit has their own cars. They do some of the jobs that don't necessarily require an officer. They will help direct traffic, do house checks for people on vacation, inventory vehicles that have been impounded. In the past they have help in locating a missing child that wandered off.
As for the boy he is in college. Now if we can only convince him how important good grades are. He want to go ROTC but if he doesn't do better they may not take him. I know he is smarter that his grades show, he just won't put the work into it.
Mariposa, good for your Hubby! We need more people like him.
As to your son, he may grow out of this yet. Many are not emotionally mature even at 19. My grandson is 15 and had trouble his last year of jr high. This last school year (his first in high school) he pulled his head out of where ever it had been and got his grades up. I told his dad (my son) to ease up just a bit, that it was just a stage. The kid is really sweet, never in trouble and in very serious about his music (guitar) and we all knew he was smarter than his grades. He just wasn't 'interested' until this last year.
I was sure he'd turn out ok, and he did (and continues to) :)
After a COLD and cloudy morning here in the swamp, the sun has finally decided to show its face. So, I am going to take advantage of that and streak to town for deer food and lunch... not necessarily in that oder! I am SO food driven!
Just put a meat loaf in the oven. Potatoes too. We love that dinner. I will fix broccoli for Joe and I'll have tiny peas. Yum.
Still no work could be done on the porch..sigh. We got SOAKED yesterday on our ride and got fairly wet today. Guess tomorrow will be very nice. Sure hope the sun stays around but we are still thinking it will be the 5th (possibly later with the way this year is shaping up).
Joe checked out (somewhere) about this 'el nina' we have been experiencing for the last several years and found it was this way in our area back in the 1920's. Weird.
