Carl, your photo of 'Impatiens' don't look like Impatiens to me...more like a Camellia or ?
It might be a nice day weather-wise, hope so, there is more yard work to do.
Carol - It definitely is an Impatien! It's a compound blossom & I bought the plants from an FFA plant sale at one of the schools out here. The blossom is actually only about an inch in size but my new camera makes the close-up appear like a much larger flower. I love this new camera!
Carol - With the choices of lenses I have, I probably could take a picture of an ant and have it look like the monster that ate Chicago. I'm having fun with it! :o)

Carl if you every get tired of that camera let me know, I just love the pictures it takes.
Mariposa - I've only had it a couple of weeks I LOVE it. And, I'm just beginning to learn what it can do. I used it on the pics of the throw that I sent you & you can even see the details of the stitching if you enlarge the pics on your monitor. There just isn't any fuzz or blur in any of the close-ups.
Carl I guess that means I'll have to keep saving my pennies...
Carl, thanks for the info on the Impatien and for the pictures! It's just gorgeous. I love those and would have them each year in front, but we get too much sun in the front yard and don't feel like digging up a long 'trench' to put them in the back...the soil is so heavy that I'd have to have someone come in and do that and fill in the space with good soil and it's just too much work and expense for it to be worth it. It's be different if they were perennials.
Your new camera sounds great! I know you will enjoy it, as you are a great one for taking pictures. We seem to forget our camera half the time when we are out for an afternoon or short trip.
Carol- I normally put all the impatiens & begonias in planters but once in a while I work one into a spot where they get enough shade. I have four window box planters plus two raised beds next to the patio in the back (on the north side of the house) so there's plenty of shade. Man, that was a convoluted sentence! Oh well, you get the drift.
Re: The camera - I'll probably bore you guys to death by the time I get proficient with it. My other three cameras just cannot get the fine detail shots and that has always bugged me. I know I've only scratched the surface of what this one can do. I've got one shot of a rose bud that has an aphid on it and it is just as crystal clear and sharp as the rain drops were on the red one a couple of days ago. :o)
Carl, that is so great (about the camera's detail)...I do appreciate that detail. I hate looking at a picture I took, knowing that it didn't capture all of what I saw.
Ours is not a 'great' camera, but does have a 'flower' feature on it, so we can do close ups of whatever.
Carol - I have the same problem you guys do because I don't always have a camera with me. I don't have a simple "point 'n shoot" camera that fits in a pocket and my cell phone doesn't take pictures. I'm just a throwback to the dinosaurs.
