Monday, Monday! Are you ready for it? I'm back in the swamp and really hoped I was going to catch up on some sleep.... but that ain't gonna happen. Oh well! Monday's just one day and we'll just take baby steps and tip-toe right through it.

Mariposa - Didn't know if you heard or not but your favorite, Kenny G. is getting a divorce. He's reported to be worth 50 Million.

Today's cover shot is provided by Carol. I think flowers & plants must be doing better at lower elevations here in "O". My Glads aren't even close to popping open. I've got quite a few buds but..... !

A fairly short but interrupted work week. Worse yet this will be my Saturday to work, UUGGHHHHH

Have a great day

I hope EVERYONE appreciates the fact that I brought back GOOD WEATHER from Las Vegas!!!! They had so much weather that it was really overdone with high temps. So, I just skimmed off what I thought would do us nicely and brought back sunshine with highs in the 70s for the entire week here in the swamp. Weather spoils so quickly that it's really hard to transport more than a week at a time without getting in trouble with TSA. Mariposa, if it doesn't get hijacked, it will get to you in a day or so. I've heard that The Derechos, a roving gang of blow-hards you've got back your way, are hijacking and sending all the good weather north to Canada. :o)

I want to say upfront that I love my Auntie Em! There's no equivocation to that... BUT, she drives me freakin' NUTZ! She's starting to have memory problems and because of it, many conversations get repeated over and over and over and over and over! It's not the serious stuff she has problems remembering.... it's the "throwaway" mundane little chit-chats that seem to go in one ear and out the other. I have ordered her a new wheelchair because she blew out a wheel during the wheelchair races at the home and it's cheaper to just replace the entire chair. In the meantime, she's competing in a "borrowed" chair and it just doesn't fit her fanny just right and the chrome is not as bright as hers and the rollbar is too low & messes up her "Do". I had to tell her (at least) two dozen times that I could not take the wheels off the borrowed chair & put them on hers. They're for a different racing class and just won't fit! So, I left her unhappy but waiting expectantly for the UPS guy! I'm not sure she will remember who she is waiting for or why but the officials at the home promised to explain it to her as many times as necessary. They also promised they'd keep her hair combed too. It's commendable what they'll do for money! I did notice though that all the "in charge" staff has white hair and all the males are almost completely BALD... (probably from pulling their hair out in frustration)! Gotta love her! Oooohhhhhhhhmmmmmm! Ohhhhhhhmmmmm! Ohhhhhhhmmm! The new chair is EXACTLY like her old one but I'm sure there will be something and she'll ask me to come down and put the new wheels on her old chair! Oooohhhhhhhhmmmmmm! Ohhhhhhhmmmmm! Ohhhhhhhmmm!

Mariposa - Ummmmmm... I never thought Kenny G. was worth 50 million to begin with. A mil or so... five tops! I mean, that's some very expensive SAX!

mariposa said...

Carl Really Good Sax is hard to come by...

Carol - Are the Blazers just toying with us? I mean, ROY HIBBERT at center!!!!!! They don't come much better than that! That could just be enough to rekindle my interest in the team. But first they need to land him and they've also gotta keep Batum! Throw in L.A. and a sharp shooting new guard.... One can only hope!

Mariposa - Lyndie Benson-Gorelick is going to be a very wealthy ex.

Carl, thanks for posting the pic!!
I love that Glad, have had it for several years. The Dahlia you will show tomorrow is about 3 years old. I really wanted a pure red one, but sometimes you don't get what is pictured on the cover when you buy bulbs. You SHOULD, but by the time the plant flowers you have ditched the receipt and I doubt you could prove it was wrong anyway.

Your Auntie Em sounds like a hoot...didn't you mention she is in her late 80's?? Wow, wheelchair races all all! What a woman!! I know it can be frustrating dealing with a person with 'memory issues'. My mother had Alzhiemers, and it was hard to visit her.

I have lost interest in the Blazers but will look into this new guy. Somehow at best all we will have is a mediocre team I think. Who knows though.

I didn't even know Kenny G was married or to who(m)....thought he was gay. Maybe that's the trouble. At least my cousin admits he is and doesn't try to hide by getting married. Nothing wrong with gays, if anything happened to Joe they would be the first I'd turn to to have an escort to anything!! Sweet, sensitive and fun to be with!!

Mr. Ed said...

Carol - I don't know whether Kenny G. is gay or not but he's been married for 20 years & has two grown sons. Ummmmmm.... being married for two decades to the same partner just might be enough to drive you to the "far side". The Gorelicks are from Seattle. I think he still owns a large percentage of Starbucks.

Carol - Missed this: She is 89. And, the wheelchair races so far are only in my head. But, I'm sure that's only because she hasn't thought of it yet.... or maybe she forgets as quickly as she thinks of it. There has to be a blessing in there somewhere. I can just envision the smokin' tires on the chairs as they round the corner into the home's restaurant.

Carl hubby and I just celebrated 23 years neither one of us are ready to jump to the far side...

Mr. Ed said...

Yaaaaaay!!!!! That's great that neither of you are ready to jump to a subsitute on the "near side" either! I never saw any attraction on the other side despite being a complete failure at being married. I still like "girls" but I admit upfront that I'm not interested in getting married again. Once burned bad enough........

carol said...

Joe is my second husband, and we've been married 42 years come Nov 1. We aren't going to jump anything except each other- LOL.

Ok, that was probably TMI

Carol - There are some riddles that are best left unsolved. I have a lot of friends who are long-time married and are completely in-tune with each other & happy. But, I enjoy who I am too much to have to try to change to fit a mold someone else devises for me. And, in my base of experience that's what it always comes down to. Marriage is a whole lot of "give and take" and I've haven't met anyone who I am willing to make a permanent committment to. There have been several who have been close but for one reason or another, the deal just never got signed! As I said, Once burned......

Carl, at least you know yourself. If I found myself single now, I would feel as you do. As we get older, I think we know what we can 'put up with' and there is so much *&^# going on out there, I wouldn't have the patience for it at all. I am too used to my existence as it is.
I think when we met each other we just clicked. Neither one of us had to 'change', we have adjusted over the years to the natural changes people go through as they grow older but it was never difficult. He puts no pressure on me, nor do I on him. I want him just as he is...for as long as that may be. Here's hoping we live into our 90's !! :)

Carol - After 42 years you guys should be able to finish sentences for each other. Here's hoping you guys are riding your bicycles together well into your 90s.

Mariposa - I think at 23 years you & your hubby must have a pretty good match-up.

I think the problem with most marriages is that they aren't strong enough to survive the natural break years - Three, Seven, Eleven..... & so on. It takes a very good match-up to still be together as long as you guys have. Way to go!
