Today's cover pic is just an old-old shack of a house but it brings back a lot of childhood memories. The house I grew up in wasn't much better than this one but it did have windows where windows belonged. I think the only paint it had ever seen was right after it was built.... and I'm not even sure it got any then! Perhaps that's why I have such an attraction for old buildings.
Mr Ed.. I am sorry for your loss. Auntie Em sounded like a wonderful lady and you were such a good nephew. You will always carry her in your heart so she will still be with you. I am glad she didn't linger in pain.
The weather here this morning is lovely. Sunny with a soft breeze. I do think it will get up in the 80's this afternoon though. We are thinking of riding somewhere. There is a place on the scenic hwy just out of Troutdale that has built up an area behind their restaurant...it's like a large backyard and has tables, firepits, logs and is right next to the Sandy River..and under the D.Fir trees. Great place to sit, have a few cold ones and watch the river go by. Summer delight!!!
Carol - Thank you. Have a great bike ride! Get'em while the weather's good because I see fall just around the corner. But, maybe we'll get one of those Indian Summer weather patterns. We can always hope... and hope... and hope! Ummmm... Is Indian Summer politically correct now?
I spent a little time cleaning out Aunty Em's things from her "care" room this morning. That's one less thing I have to deal with. She didn't have much there. I've scheduled emptying her condo on the 16th and it will go on the market after that. Despite all the detailed planning she and I went through, I'm here going through all her "stuff" she considered important" and wondering what I do with it. She had several art pieces she insisted I should have so they'll go home with me. Her grandson will be down on the 16th to see if there's anything he would like to keep. There is one painting Auntie Em painted and I think it should be his if he wants it. She was an avid supporter of The Salvation Army so that's probably where everything else will go.
Mr.Ed, When I mentioned riding to the restaurant I meant in the car. The Sandy river is too far for us anymore. Years ago we cycled to Dabney Park but those days are long gone. The farthest we go now is a 22 mile round trip, but usually it's 16 miles.
Hope you can get all the things settled down there and will not have to make the trips. It would be nice if her condo sold quickly.
Mariposa - I was thinking that would be a TREMENDOUS amount of hand work. The lady I know who quilts does it all by machine.(I think) It still seems like a LOT of work so it would have to be therapeutic.
Yeah! Right! Ummmhuh! I'm lucky when I get my shoe laces tied right. And, the last time I sat at a sewing machine, I managed to get the needle through the end of my finger. I think I was about 5 at the time....

Feliz Domingo! Have a great Sunday!

Mr.Ed,

Carol - Silly me! I didn't even give it a thought about the mileage to Troutdale. Too much on my mind I guess.
I spent my Sunday finishing up the backing fabrics for my quilts. Next step sandwich them and start quilting.
Mariposa - That sounds like GREAT therapy! Do you do all your stitching by hand or is some of it machine?
Mr. Ed I have a serious case of carpal tunnel. Most every thing I do is by machine.
Mariposa - I was thinking that would be a TREMENDOUS amount of hand work. The lady I know who quilts does it all by machine.(I think) It still seems like a LOT of work so it would have to be therapeutic.
Very relaxing. You should try it sometime.
