Today's cover shot: The Sea Lion Caves on the Oregon Coast near Florence. Interesting and noisy to visit... but somewhat odiferous with lots of flies. You can see as many Sea Lions on the docks in almost every town on the coast. It's worth a visit though if you've never been there.
THIT ... Thursday! Not close enough to the weekend to get excited yet.... but close! Have a BODACIOUS one!
Wow, just having a thunder storm!! LOUD booming, lightening, and heavy RAIN!! Our mugginess will be gone after this passes. Maybe it will help the fires that are burning in areas.
It's overcast and cooler today, much better than the last two days.
On a sadder note my poor husband has the task of taking our sheltie to her last vet visit today. She has decided it is time, and I won't deny her the rest she has earned.
Mariposa - There are no words that will take away that pain but sorry for the loss of your baby. They all come to that time much too quickly....
Carol - I completely missed the thunder boomer. I was having a cat scan done in Salem & probably was in the machine when it went over. All I had was heavy rain going and coming.... and a nice nap while in the tube. The nap wasn't long enough though and I need another one.
Mariposa - My cats are all biased & you can't trust their opinions. None of them would hesitate to trade me for a can of tuna if the offer was on the table.
Carol - It's been three and a half years but this is just a routine follow up. They have just kept the BP in the basement and let the pipe heal naturally and that has been my preference. Everything is good but there has been one little area they've been concerned about. I won't know what this shows until the quacks go over it with me. They keep my BP so low I couldn't blow out a candle if I had a hurricane helping me.
I don't know if I mentioned it but I changed cardiologists because of an insurance change. Then, I fired the new one and found a different group. I'm a stickler for having doctors who LISTEN to me. Nobody knows my body like I do! Anyway, this is just a new "get acquainted" exam. If we "dance" well together, I'll keep the new ones.
Carol - Joey's my BUDDY! He would only put me on the floor to show me that he could do it. And, after he got me down, he'd lick off all my skin..... all the while mumbling something about "tasting just like chicken".
Mr. Ed...glad that's all the CAT scan was for. I know how you feel about Dr's listening to you! I agree completely and we are of an age where we are not intimidated and WILL speak up if we are treated dismissively. Grrrrr.
Joey sounds like my kind of cat! Have you sorted out the dilemma with the other cats and Joey as yet? Can you partition the cat room so he can have his space and the others have theirs and never the 'twain shall meet? :)
Carol - I just keep them separated. There's no way to divide this house so they can all roam free in their own space. So, when Joey is out, the others have to be confined to where he is not. I keep trying for peaceful integration but so far it's not working. I have put Joey on a drug designed to back him down from NEEDING to be the ALPHA critter but he hasn't been on it long enough to tell if it's working. The vet says he'll need to be on it for at least a month before we'll know. So far I can't see any change in him. He's not sleeping any more and he's still just as aggressive as always. Joey will STALK and then deliberately attack. It kinda makes you think twice about falling asleep when he's loose. (just kidding)
Carol - They've been keeping my BP & pulse rate low with a cocktail of drugs given every six hours. The quack I fired decided that the only way to bring my pulse rate up now was to put in a pacemaker. Since there's nothing WRONG with my heart, I suggested taking away some of the drugs instead. I won. We're adjusting dosages to bring the numbers up. FREAKIN' Knife happy quack!!!
Carol - One last thought: I am living proof that damage caused by exposure to long term high blood pressure, is reversible. Not so easily controlled was the blown out aorta. But, I think this catscan is going to show it to be completely healed. It's been three-and-a-half years and I just feel too good for it to not be. And, my echocardiogram from a couple of weeks back couldn't have been better if it had been from a 21 year old. Everything was absolutely flawless. Despite my constant bitching about them, my team of quacks have done a fantastic job.

Mariposa, I am so sorry about your little sheltie! I know what it is to do that 'trip'. She will be in your heart forever though.

Mr. Ed wouldn't it have been easier to use one of your own cats for the scan???

HAHAHAHA...I can just picture Joey standing over you with a grin on his face.
Re the CAT scan, hope you are ok. That is not a routine procedure - is it related to your pesky aorta?

Well, hell yes...they get more money from hacking away on you than adjusting the drugs.
Carol - Ain't that the damn truth!
