Today's cover shot: I don't have a clue what the flower is but I liked the dew decoration. Mother Nature can always find a way to improve perfection.

Wednesday! Humpday already! Well, there certainly are worse things to have happen ths early in the work week. Have a good'n!

Carol - (leftover from yesterday) I haven't planted a garden in several years. It's just too much work. If I can't buy it, I figure I don't need it. Besides, my gardens always ended up being a gormet brunch for the critters.... especially the DEER! And, I eat out more than I do at home because I don't like the MESS!

Mr. Ed, I agree a large garden would be too much work for me too and we wouldn't do justice to all the produce. We have nice neighbors who give us cukes and tomatoes and an occasional zucchini (which goes in the recycle bin). I am digging up all my bulbs and plants in my backyard circle and giving the bulbs I don't have room for to neighbors. We will just plant grass where the circle was. It just got tooooo messy looking most of the year. Also each time I bring flowers in the house, I have bugs and spiders to get rid of and usually don't see all of them, so they hide and are happy for a few days until I find them. I try to take them back outside instead of killing them, but with ear-wigs all bets are off!! I really dislike ear-wigs and don't know why exactly. Same with moths!!

Ear-wigs are creepy but harmless. Moths lay their eggs wherever they want and then you have little creepy-crawly wormy things. There is one type of small moth whose babies will eat the paper right off the sheetrock from the walls of your house. Oh, and not to mention what moths can do to your favorite sweater! Definitely not my favorite BUG!

I don't know what is goin' on but today has felt like Monday... all DAY! Just what I don't need is a second Monday this week!

I know Ear-wigs are harmless but they are soooooo ugly and FAST!! And damned hard to kill!

As to moths, I've been afraid of them since I was very young. I think butterflies are pretty but get nervous if they are too close.

I bought a large bag (I think if was 25#) of peanuts to put in the squirrel feeder I also bought and I stored the bag down the basement. After several months we started noticing tiny moths flying everywhere. Well, sure enough there were eggs in the peanuts!! YUK....we took the bag and remaining peanuts outside and let the birds and squirrels have a feast.

It took a long time to get rid of the moths!! We didn't want to spray as we still had the 2 cats then.

Carol - Those are the moths that will eat the paper right off your walls. You find them a lot in bird seed. On the good side... one aerosol bug bomb is usually all it takes to get rid of 'em.

I think the swamp is about to be hit with some "late summer - fall" weather. At least that's what the guessers are saying. I like lightning displays! I don't like them starting fires though so I hope there will be some rain with it. We'll probably end up not getting ANYTHING!!! Ummmmm... no leaves have fallen yet so storm drains shouldn't be plugged. Regardless, Johnson Creek and Highway 101 flooding on the coast will be the top story on every TV snooze program if it rains more than a half inch. It's great to live in an area where you can depend on the TV guys to tell you the "important" stuff.... NOT!

As I said, we would have let off a bug bomb, but we didn't want to do that with the cats in the house and we had no place to take them.

I heard that lightening / thunder forecast for tonight too.

The highway dept has re-worked Johnson Creek extensively the last year or so to control the annual flooding. The area around it is actually looking good. We see some of it from the Springwater bike path. The test will come this Fall and Winter. Glad I don't live close to that area though.

Hwy 101 will most likely cave in again .. last year it was a mess for several days/weeks.

Carol - What will the TV crews do without Johnson Creek??????? I guess they can always come on down and film the Pudding River. It's always good for a couple of inches of overflow. It's accessible too. They may not even have to get out of their cars to get video.

Carol - I understand your not wanting to bug bomb the cats.
