Oh Joy!!! A brand new month! We get to break it in the way we want! yaaayyyyyy!
Today's cover shot is one of my resident hummmers. They'll be heading south pretty quick. When I was a youth, I was told that hummingbirds don't fly south on their own. I was told that they hitch-hiked on the backs of geese... and I believed it for the longest time. I'm smarter now though. Now I know that they get rides from friendly truckers they meet up with at truckstops. You don't still believe they FLY all that distance on little wings like theirs do you? Butterflies are also notorious hitch-hikers. I once saw 500 of them deplane from an Alaska Airlines 757... stowaways! Hey! If they can have snakes on a plane they can have butterflies too! I know a lot of people who get butterflies when they fly! Ummmmm.... come to think of it, I was flying first class with lots of free drinks that trip. But, I know what I saw!
Mr.Ed, wow, your type of flying sounds like fun. Any pink elephants in first class???
Hard to believe that something as tiny as a Hummingbird can be a resilient as they are. They can tolerate temps and altitudes that would do in another species.
Beautiful day, but the breezes have changed from NW to SW so we know that a moist change is coming.
Supposed to be some showers around tomorrow.
We are heading to Sauvie Island again this afternoon for more peaches and green beans.
Carol - They make the pink elephants sit out on the wing. It's a weight and balance thing I think. They're required to travel in pairs so there's always one for each wing.
Mr Ed, well, yes that would make sense seeing the elephants are so large. After a few stiff drinks I'm sure there would always be 2 of them. Probably 2 of a lot of other things as well. :)

Mr. Ed from last night. I buy my fabric new. The price of cotton yard goods is going up and up. A yard of good quality fabric runs any where from ten to twelve dollars. I'm getting really choosy about what I buy.
Mariposa - at that price you'd need to get maximum bang for your buying dollar.... especially since you're cutting it up into little scraps.
