Today's cover shot: Portland's Holiday Express train. Running just three weekends for the Christmas season & pulled by SP&S 700 engine (a 4-8-4 Baldwin). I love the sound and energy of the old steam engines. Just part of the holiday spirit that is unique to Portland.

No matter what today throws at you, have a BODACIOUS one!!!

Well the Buckeyes managed to shoot themselves in their feet. They did not play well at all.

Mariposa - I only saw part of it. Not playing well seems to happen to the best.

The Blazers fought down to the wire but came up short at the buzzer. Bummer... They played a good game but they're not going to win 'em all.

15º out & expected to get down to 7º in a couple of hours. I'm sure getting tired of constantly having to move those brass monkeys in and out....

Midnight & 8.1º at mi casa. All my outside kitties are snuggled up in a ball in their heated shelter. I don't have a thermometer in it but it feels like it's at least in the 60s in there. Not too bad a spot to be if you're a homeless critter in rehab.

Neat train!! Where does it run? I noticed the bike/walking/running path.

How nice that you have a warm place for outside critters to go. I always worry and wonder about all the little creatures out in these cold spells. Obviously, they survive somehow.

It was down to 10 degrees here overnight, now it's all the way up to 15!!! at 7:37am BRRRRR
I am so looking forward to Tues when all this will warm up and go away.

Carol - They operate out of Oaks Park. Here's everything you need to know.

Mr Ed, thanks for the train info but it doesn't say how long the train ride is. I was just curious...funny, I had never heard of it before. Maybe it's because we don't take the paper any longer. We have it on line, but I usually just go to the crosswords. I listen to my kitchen radio in the morning while getting breakfast and puttering around.

Carol - Round trip is about 45 minutes.

Carol - I had a friend who helped to restore 4449 so I've been a supporter for a lot of years

The ride sounds like fun, especially if you have little kids or grandkids.

Finally got up to 28 at our house...that's pretty good since we started at 10.

Yeah.... I'm up to 29º but there's no wind and the sunshine is beautiful but COLD!!!

Carol - I took a DATE on the Holiday Express! Lots of fun! We went to dinner & drinks afterwards.

Was that just recently? Hope it wasn't the lady that sent you the pie...LOL
But hey, you survived!!

Carol - Last weekend. Not the same lady.... this one I asked out. We match up very well and I really enjoy being with her.
