Seemed strange to wake up in my own bed... with a cat on the next pillow staring at me. She was good and had let me sleep but it was "food time". It is so goooooood to be home! I just don't travel well anymore. Ummmm.. come to think of it, I've NEVER traveled well but now I think I've gotten worse. TSA has lightened up on their invasive pre-boarding checks. Because I fly so much, I was classified as "pre-screened" and didn't have to stand in line, take shoes off or do the body-scan crap. Flying down and coming back, I went through the metal detector and that was it!
It's a frosty morning here in the swamp but it looks like it will be a pretty decent day. My crews have planted a lot of trees while I've been gone so I guess I probably need to get a first hand look to make sure they did it right. It's not "rocket science"... you just dig a small hole, put a tree in it roots down... and fill the hole back in. The only variable is the spacing and even that's not critical as long as they get about 500 trees to the acre. As long as they're not too crowded, trees don't care.
Mariposa - While you are being hammered by the cold, my relatives in Anchorage say they're running around in their shirtsleeves because it's in the 60s there. It's a "screwy" winter for sure so stay warm!!!!
Mr. Ed, I was checking the Accuweather and there is a story there you can click on about an avalanche that came down and is blocking the only road to Valdez, Alaska. It's due to warm weather. Guess it's about 30' high...don't know how long it will take to open the road.
Our weather is cold and windy and it's even clouded up and is supposed to rain tonight but it's the moisture that is making it feel so much colder than the 40 it is out there.
Carol - Did I mention I have tulips up? And, while I was in Arizona, there were Daffys and Iris blooming everywhere. That's probably normal for down there since daytime temps are in the 70s now.

We are heading back to the deep freeze again. We haven't had a winter this cold in years....
