Today's cover shot: This barn is still actively used. But, it's got a lot of history and was built strong. It's undoubtedly going to be around for many years to come.
The clip of the jerk biker was typical of what we have seen too.
We would have just gone around the car.
I get upset with cars that block intersections when I'm DRIVING...don't they think ahead? I guess not. Also the idiots that come up to a red light and block the whole lane so when you come up behind them you cannot turn right. As I have said many times, some people should just not drive.
Carol - Re: Clip - It just seems that it is "heating up" in Portland. Both sides seem to be getting more militant and less forgiving. As I've said before... I hate DRIVING in Portland. I won't drive in the downtown core area... PERIOD! You almost have to have a "death wish" to go there.
I hear you on driving in downtown Ptld. I had to do that a few months ago for the first time in many years. Fortunately I only had to go to a parking facility and for a short walk and back to my car. I could see it was grid lock. I was glad to hit the bridge and get back home. There are enough stupid drivers in our neighborhood alone, never mind all the other areas they haunt. Maybe that is why they are out driving, they are too stupid to be employed. Oh, and then there are the drivers of my generation...most are good, but some should just hang up the keys! Going 15mph in a 30 zone is crazy. I wish I were a traffic cop when I see that.
Carol - The traffic cop would give them a medal for driving UNDER the posted speed. When I got my speeding ticket in Canby a few months ago, the cop asked me where I was going in such a hurry and actually suggested I try driving 5-10 under the posted speed. I got caught in a speed reduction from 45 to 25 limit. It goes from 45 to 25 and then to 20 for a school zone. I was slowing but still going 41 when I passed the 25 mph speed limit sign. Didn't matter! Guilty! Pay the $160 fine! Next! I felt like asking the jerk why he wasn't out catching a rapist or burglar or doing something useful other than raking in money for Canby. Now I deliberately drive 20 mph or less for the entire length of 13th street. Most of it is a school zone anyway.
Warning: Canby and Molalla are the worst for gung-ho traffic enforcement. I got a thorough tongue-lashing from a Molalla cop a couple of years ago because I didn't COMPLETELY stop before making a right hand turn from a stop-sign. I stopped but they want you to be FULLY stopped (no wheel motion) for a full two seconds. Even though I wasn't moving he said my tires never FULLY stopped... GRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Ummmmm.... Add Aurora to that gung-ho list! They will ticket you for anything over posted speed and almost always have active speed-traps working on the routes in and out of town. Real friendly place to visit!
Grrr is right...still I do hate drivers that dawdle way under the limit. That is dangerous on the freeways! Cops have pulled people over for doing 40 on the freeway - I think they probably figure they are either drunk, stoned or on a device of some sort. And sadly that is probably true, or else they are some geezer.
Carol - They could pull you over for going that slow but they could never write you a ticket as long as traffic can get past you. Oregon has no minimum speed laws and only requires the person to drive in the right hand lane or as close as possible to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway. On the freeway they might require you turn on your four-way flashers.
Mariposa - How are things going for the new warehouse coordinator in the land of ice and snow????? Any sign of new spring plants yet? I've got one daffy bloomed.... film at eleven.
