Today's cover shot: It's getting to be just a memory. Temps in the upper 40s are reducing the snow pack. I've still got close to a foot but the roads have cleared themselves nicely. Okay - I'm ready for Spring now!

Tuesday! Ready or not, here I come!

I just checked with the animal hospital and Mandy & Smokey are doing fine. They are in adjacent cages so they have each other's company but mostly they're just lying around & looking out the window. In reality they're probably bored stiff & thinking they've been abandoned. But then, who knows what goes on in a cat's brain. They're probably dreaming of mice, birds and squirrels.....

Mr.Ed....glad Mandy and Smokey are fine. Also glad they are next to each other, I'm sure that is comfort when you are not there.

Good idea on handling Joey by his scruff, he knows the meaning of that and that you are the 'alpha male'.
I see what you mean about the bonding, I wouldn't be able to give him up either.

We are getting thawed out fairly well but not enough for a bike ride. That won't happen until about Thurs. No use risking a broken butt and months of re-hab.
Our reflexes are not what they were. At least we have enough sense to know not to go out...I saw a few riders out when I went to the store yesterday and also today.

Carol - I always worry about them whenever they are taken out of their familiar surroundings and into the hands of strangers. Several years ago my large tuxedo male... Nick... would go into a depression and wouldn't eat for days when I had to board him out while I was gone. That's when I started hiring the cat sitter. Unfortunately, there's no way to do that in this case and their situation is what it is. But, I still worry about what goes through their thoughts about abandonment. They both were homeless strays when I got them. Smokey barely had his eyes open so I doubt he remembers.

The hospital wouldn't allow them to share a cage but I insisted on them being right next to each other. I think they need that.

I think Joey bonded to me more than normal because I provided all his care after he had been shot. I gave him a lot of attention he had probably never gotten before. There is no doubt that I am HIS human.

Wahooooo!!!! I went out to lunch and didn't have to take the four wheel drive! The roads are completely bare! Life is good!
