Today's cover page shot: Another of my "children". This one will be a year old in a couple of months. They are always so precocious at this age and have to experiment with everything they find that's new or different.
Monday! Monday! Weren't we just here not that long ago? Seems like déjà vu all over again! Oh well... It is what it is so have a good'n!
We started in the single digits this morning and might make it to 20 if we are lucky. Great day for one of the dock doors to go haywire. The down button was stuck, as soon as the driver saw it was up he pulled out and the door came down. Now we can not get it closed all the way. Door service has been called but that could take all day. At least it did not do much damage to his truck.
Carol - I remember reading (somewhere) that there are more raccoons in Washington County(opposite side of the metro area) than there are people but I don't know if that's still true. They seem to make themselves right at home no matter what people do. I don't make pets out of them but I don't discourage them hanging around. They are CUUUUTE and they do a good job of keeping the beetle population under control.
Our neighbor is not a fan of raccoons..he had a new lawn put in this past summer and several corners of it were pulled up each morning. He would fix it but the next morning was the same story. That happened to his back yard a few years ago.
I think the little buggers have moved on now because a new house is being constructed next door and the racket and traffic must have made them nervous.
Carol - Today is my first day without the Oregonian delivery. The distributor raised the price for the additional three days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) delivery to two bucks a day. I had been taking it(at $1.25 a day) but it was turning out to be vey slim in size and content. So, I told him "no thanks" & I've switched to on line. All I really liked was Sports and Comics so no great loss I guess. I hope his kid can make it through college without my "generous" support. I'm still getting it the other four days but I may cancel that as well.... we'll see!
Carol - Raccoons will do that to sod lawns because they are after beetles that almost immediately move in under the sod layer. Put down a good insecticide before laying the sod and you don't have that problem. No beetles... no raccoon buffet. Skunks will do the same thing...
Mr Ed...re the lawn/sod buffet, thanks, I'll tell my neighbor for future reference.
We quit the Oregonian last year for the same reasons you listed. Joe was even tired of their Sports page, said more info was on line in various spots than was in their page. I liked the comics and crossword. No big loss to either of us. I get 2 crosswords on line each day. We did get the on line version of the O for a few months when in was free. Once people got used to that format, they started charging for it. Waste of money IMO
Carol - When the Oregonian starts charging me for the online version, I'll dump it too! You'd think they'd be trying to ATTRACT customers rather than driving them away!

I second Mariposa's AWWWWWW.
Those little critters are sooo cute.
And that little guy is right where he belongs, in a rural setting, not in the city.
It's 45 here this morning, what a change from yesterday at this time.
Typical March...can't make up it's mind.

Mariposa - Oops!
