I hope yesterday's heavy rain is past us. We had a series of squalls come through my area that dumped quite a bit of rain. I's been pretty quiet overnight so we'll see! A couple of friends told me there was thunder activity with it but I didn't hear any or see any lightning.
Well THIT! Thursday, Thursday, Thursday! That's funny! I said it three times & turned around & clicked my heels and it's still Thursday. Oh well! It'll go away in due time. Have a GREAT Thursday!
Mr. Ed, the shuttle is not a bus, it's a fancy van, with wonderful, cushy seats. It costs $97 for a round trip from Vegas to x and from x back to Vegas Airport. For me, it's much better than renting a car. Alone, I would not be comfortable driving a strange car across that desolate landscape! If something happened I'd be screwed and probably have no cell service.
The rain/wind storm that crashed into us overnight brought a lot of power outages and nearly 2" of rain which broke a record from 1989. Another front is coming in this area about 8:00 this morning and will have wind gusts to 45mph. Guess who will have a 'rock and roll' bike ride?
Carol -- About the shuttle - Who knew???? I certainly didn't. I flew from Vegas to Phoenix then drove back out to Wickenburg & Salome. The shuttle sounds perfect and you are right about the "no cell service"! It's pretty spotty and internet availability is almost non-existent unless you're at a business that offers Wi-Fi. I visited several Mc Donald's parking lots while I was there. I got very bored with the "sand, sagebrush, and cactus" landscape but I'm sure you'll have fun with your sister.
Mr.Ed...yes, she is going to take me golfing with her. I have never golfed but would like to ride in the cart and see the golf course and meet her friends. I will take them out to dinner one night. There are places to go in the city, and it's also fun to have a few drinks and yak for hours!
Carol - That's my kind of golfing. Now if the golf courses would just allow bottled beer it would be a perfect outing.... ride in the cart, watch someone else whack the ball, and sip a Bud! I'm not a fan of beer in cans and I've never understood chasing a little white ball around the landscape and lying about the number of times you have to whack it!
I don't have the patience for golf. It moves way too slow for my tastes. I don't mind observing though. I would like to toss down a few cold ones while I do that but we will be going in the morning. They play fairly early in the morning since it get too warm at mid day, not so much now, but as Spring moves to Summer. In summer she and her late hubby used to get on the course by 5:00am !!
She is much more low-key than I am and has more patience. She's a very good golfer. That's the type of person that is good at that game, not a AAAA type like me. LOL
Carol - One of my past jobs was at a radio station located smack-dab in the middle of a golf course. In the three years I was there, I never figured out the attraction for the sport. It seemed to be about as exciting as watching grass grow... but I was young and "dumb" then.
It looks like the Weather Service has cancelled the high wind warnings they had posted for today. Now they're saying just rain for the next several hours. Whatever!!!
Glad to have the wind warnings gone. Our ride was a wild one, wind trying to blow us over sideways. We were riding in a SE direction going out and, of course, a NW coming home. The wind was out of the south so most of the home stretch was great....lots of "wind at our backs"
Some of the trees here are now in pink blossom, I can see the rest are getting ready. I love Spring.
Carol - This latest weather was really funny. With the exception of the squalls, I didn't get any wind to speak of. I did get almost three inches of rain over the 24 hours yesterday but so far only about a quarter inch today. And now the sun is out... looking very spring-like.
