TGIF!!! Today's cover shot - I liked the way the setting sun painted the surf line. The Oregon coast is an ever changing canvas waiting for Mother Nature to paint a new masterpiece.

Have a bodacious Friday! It's the only one we get this week....

And, all is right with the world. Arizona survived a scary battle of free-throws to beat San Diego State. So now it's down to the Elite Eight!

Wouldn't it be interesting if the two Miller brothers teams played one another.

50 here this morning. I've all ready had to shed a layer. I am hoping for an easy day today. By the time this week is over I'll be pushing 60 hours. I think I need a vacation.

I guess it's time to batten down the hatches. We've got some pretty violent weather kicking up outside so that means I'll probably be in the dark pretty soon. Such is life in the boonies!

Mariposa - I hadn't thought that far ahead to an Arizona-Dayton matchup. How would you like to be the father?????

We had some pretty heavy weather about four hours ago here in the swamp but since then, it's just been mostly quiet. Kinda makes you wonder what Mother Nature is up to now.....

Sunny breezy and 53 right now.

I got a chance to check the brackets. Dayton and Arizona would have to face off in the finals. Dayton is good but I'm not sure they are that good.

I got the latest blood test results back for Mandy and Smokey but they're not as good as I had been hoping. The Thyroid numbers are looking good but both of them took quite a hit to their kidneys... Mandy more so than Smokey. The difference is probably because I was injecting electrolytes into Smokey when he got the radioactive treatment which helped the kidney stress. The vet thinks the numbers will improve in time. I hope he's right but regardless, we'll deal with whatever we have to do. The numbers are not dangerously bad... just not as good as they could be. On the plus side.... they're acting completely normal and both have gained weight. Smokey still needs another pound or so but he's starting to look much better. And, they no longer glow-in-the-dark!

Mariposa - Dayton would have its hands full because Arizona is large and physical. Stanford fit that same description but Dayton out hustled and outplayed them. If Arizona came out slow and methodical, the Flyers would eat them up. Otherwise, it would be a barn-burner to the end. Of course, there's still a lot of B-ball between now and then.

Glad to hear your babies are doing well. Since they no longer glow in the dark, did you put little bells on them so they can't sneak up on you in the dark?

Mariposa - Nah! They don't bite seriously... just little "love nibbles". I don't mind being sneaked up on.

Mr. Ed, glad the kitties are safe to handle as normal again, sad about the kidney situation. How old are they? Seems cats have kidney issues when they get older. Been there, done that. No fun for either cat or human.

Mariposa, I think you deserve a BIG raise!! Too many hours unless you are paid by the hour and get overtime.

Carol I do get paid overtime, but I miss my sleep!

Carol - The kidney numbers aren't THAT bad. They're just on the high edge of normal... Smokey's just under the line and Mandy's just over... worth watching but not needing anything serious like dialysis yet . When Smokey was getting the thyroid treatment, I was injecting Ringers Lactate under his skin every other day. If they need it, I'll do it again to both of them if that's what it takes to take the stress off the kidneys. It takes about fifteen minutes to inject the 2ml of liquid into a spot between their shoulder blades... and it's painless. While I was doing it to Smokey he would just lie on my lap and purr the entire time.

Mariposa - Is Freddy still off?

Freddy has been at the new store this week. He is helping check in and put away the stuff I send down. Poor baby is on light duty, can only work 8 hours a day. He went home early today because he was sore and he needed some beer. Can't wait to see how well he handles the inventory tomorrow.
