Today's cover shot: She's a California or Valley Quail ... part of a permanent flock we have out here in the Boonies. I'm not sure if they are Native or descendants of some that were raised in captivity and then released. We've also got Bobwhites... but I know they are not native. A friend of mine purchased Bobwhite chicks several years ago but they escaped. The offspring of those originals are still here. It's kind of peaceful to hear their distinctive calls in the mornings.
Arrrrrrrrrgggghhhhh!!!! Monday ALREADY! I have NOTHING on my schedule but I'm sue the day will have all kinds of nasty surprises for me. It always seems to work that way. But, don't let my grousing about Mondays stop you from utterly enjoying whatever this day has in store for you. I just like to complain and Mondays are an easy target! I just wish they'd treat me better. ☺
Carol - It's pretty hard to find fault with the weather we've been getting. I'm beginning to wonder where I am. The only downside I can see is that most of the snowpack is almost gone up high and that's about a month earlier than usual. It makes it easier for the critters to get around but it's going to make it a very dry summer... probably a bad one for fires. But, I can't change what I can't change so it just gives me one more thing to worry & fret about and have to deal with later. Hopefully there will be enough moisture in the ground to keep the new baby trees alive through their first summer. If not, we'll just have to replant the ones that don't make it. On the plus side, the beautiful weather we've been having is giving the baby trees a good head-start on growth so hopefully they'll be bigger and more able to survive. It seems like it's a constant fight but a tree farmer is always at the mercy of Mother Nature.
Sunny and eighty. Oh wait that was yesterday. Cooler and rainy today and into the twentys by tomorrow morning. Some one please remind me why I live in Ohio....
Mariposa - Good for him! He's got a lot more confidence than I have to perform like that in public. I sing in the shower... only when I'm sure no one's around to hear me! The cats don't care how I sing...
