That cover shot would go very nicely in the guest bedroom!! I will be back at the project today. Might finish tomorrow but I am substituting at shuffleboard so it might be Thurs. I have to put 2 coats on, which surprised me. I am painting over wallpaper so that may be why but it gives the paint a bit of texture and it looks great!
Carol - You are probably having to use two coats because yellow and red paint pigments are very transparent and what's behind them shows through. If it's a white background, reds become very "pinkish". Your "orange" is combining the two worst pigments for coverage. To avoid that you needed to use a grey tinted primer undercoat. It doesn't need to be very grey to work its magic. They should have told you that where you bought the paint but if it was one of the "box" stores their people probably didn't even know. Ummm... yeah, I am a wealth of information... after the fact!
Mr Ed, I bought the wrong brand of paint, Dutch Boy, "boy" don't bother with that one anymore. Years ago we had trouble with that brand but I thought they might have improved since they were still on the shelves. WRONG. I love Rodda paints but they just didn't have the right shade of orange. I am dealing with the 2 coats and learned my lesson. Thanks for your imput :)
Carol - Dutch Boy is not bad paint considering it's Freddy's house brand. It holds up well as interior paint but doesn't handle weathering very well outside. In paint, you get what you pay for. Dutch Boy is very low in Alkyd and Titanium Dioxide... the agents that make it hide what it's going over with one coat and lay down in a smooth professional looking finish. Rodda is right up there with the best... no doubt about it. In one of my prior lives I earned my degree in hardware and paint from True Value University. Both Behr and Valspar are good... Valspar very good... but Miller would be at the very bottom of my list. Did you know that 95 percent of all men are colorblind to some degree? Fact! Men just don't see colors the way you ladies do. GAWDDDDDD! The things you learn around this place!
Rodda might have not had a color chip in the orange you wanted but my money would be on their ability to match any color if you took them a sample. If the person doing the mixing is worth a grain of salt, they can fine-tune any color to get it where you wanted it.

Today's cover shot: Sunset on the Oregon Coast... just looking for that special color to complement that guest bedroom makeover...
Does it seem like Tuesday to you? To me it seems like Monday slid by way too easily.
And then there was one..... UConn again... ho hum!
I must be getting old. My little boy turns 21 today.

Mariposa, you aren't getting old, you are getting better! Hope your son doesn't celebrate too much - that's a dicey age.
Carol I reminded him that he can call for a ride home at any time no questions asked. Lecture to follow the next day 😄.

Mariposa - You're not getting older. You're just getting more years of experience on your resume. I can't remember... Is your son still in school?
Mr. Ed he is still cracking the books.
Mariposa - You haven't mentioned them lately but how're your daughter and HER deadbeat doing?
