Today's cover shot: No one seems to know why Orcas do this. The theory is that they are simply curious about things on the surface and want a better look. At any rate, unless you're food you have nothing to worry about because they're just very large members of the Dolphin family. Ummm... According to my guide, this one was a juvenile female.... a teenager so to speak and definitely not fully grown.
Tuesday... Have FUN with it! I think I am going car shopping. I've got an SUV that's getting long in the tooth at 180 thousand miles and it's about time to send it down the road before it dies of old age.
I'm starting to think the same thing about my car. It has 150,000 plus miles. I'm thinking some time after the first of the year I'll be replacing mine.
Mariposa - I always keep mine to the bitter end it seems. I had a Bronco II that I put 260 thousand on. I finally got rid of it when the tranny started growling a bit. I consider anything over 175 thousand about the max.
Ah, cars and repair money. Did you know you are never to discuss a vacation/road trip/some fun destination in front of your car? It's a sure thing that there will be an expensive repair coming your way! LOL We have just spent a LOT of money on our old van but it has never cost us anything until now, and it's a '99. It only has 89,000 miles on it so we figure it's now good for a lot more.
Carol - Sometimes OLDER is best! I've got an '03 Mustang that I love. It only has a little over 50 thousand on it. I think they're going to bury me in that car.
What Mariposa's sister went through with her trip to Ohio made me start thinkin' about the age of SUV. It's also an '03 but it's starting to get a little shaky in spots. It's always been well maintained & doesn't burn any oil. But it has developed a very small valve cover leak and I hate oil drips on the garage floor. Well, I'm off to see what kind of deal I can wrangle. I hate car dealers!!!!!
Mr.Ed, we've always maintained our cars too. We just don't travel much so our mileage stays low. We have a sporty Mitsubishi Eclipse that is a '97 and is in showroom condition. It has about 37,000 on it.
I thought the same about Mariposa's sisters trip...ouch, that was so awful. I'm so glad no one was hurt when they hit that deer!!!
We were giving an Oct road trip to Az a thought but don't know. It's hard for Joe to be gone that long and I'm trying to talk him into flying with me. I think I'm making headway. He's not afraid of flying, just doesn't like the thought of being stranded if a flight is delayed or missed. I doubt that would happen with the type of trip we plan.
Carol- You need to keep that Eclipse low mileage if possible. Mitsubishis are great cars & hold their value well. Several years ago I had a 3000GT... loved it & wish I still had it. But, you just can't keep them all. That car had brakes that would stop you on a dime and give you back nine cents change. And it handled like it was on rails. Not very practical but it was a GREAT car.
With the exception of bad weather, flight delays are almost non-existent with the airlines now. They are almost religious in maintaining that on-time rating. And, just going to AZ you won't have to make any flight connections so there's really nothing to miss. I just can't imagine driving that far unless I had to take a lot of stuff with me.
Sisters trip just got more interesting. BIL is in the hospital. Seems like he is a real mess. Blood sugar at 41 this morning sodium is way to low he is dehydrated and his kidneys are shutting down. To top it all off $8000 worth of deer damage.
We found out about all the heth problems after he got up this morning apparently he hit his hand on a night stand last night and left a huge puddle of blood on the floor. A trip to the local urgent care landed him in the hospital to try and get him straightened out
Can I have pass on the rest of the week? Please.....
Mariposa - HOLY CRAPPPPP!!! Get that man a large glass of orange juice! That is some SERIOUS stuff going on with him. With his blood sugar that low it's no wonder he did a face plant! Is he pre diabetic or have they figured out what is going on??? How old is he?
Not pre diabetic he is on insulin. Neither one takes care of themselves the way they should. My sister has had a pretty bad strike in the past. She has difficulty with her speech and no use of her right hand and arm. These two are a disaster waiting to happen.
