Monday, Monday....... Today's cover shot is two neighborhood trouble makers. They are brother-sister and it seems like they take turns on finding mischief to get into. But, I don't mind and I can't imagine what life would be like without my critters to keep me entertained.
It's a glorious day here in the swamp... what a way to start the week. SUMMER, part two! Temps right at 70ยบ this morning & supposed to get to about 90 this afternoon. The best part: SUNSHINE!!!!
Nursing aching muscles this morning from all the weekend's wood-work.... and I did very little of the work. My crew got about 20 cords split up and stacked for drying... not too bad. That's about what we sent out last winter. For most of the people getting this wood it will just be a backup for use in power outages. There are just a couple that still use wood as a full-time source of heat.
Cute little critters...and I'm sure they can do a lot of pesky things I wouldn't be too happy about. Thankfully the ones we have around here don't mess with our yard. We suspect they took bites out of our tomatoes last year but this year we only have 2 cherry tomato plants and so far, no problem. Also I have a very cute, little raccoon sprinkler my cousin gave me years ago. I just use it as an ornament in my border very close to the tomato plants. Maybe the real raccoons think it's one of their own that set up his turf there so they leave it alone. Who knows.
Carol - In town it's better that you DON'T have raccoons. I read somewhere that at one time raccoons outnumbered people in Washington County.
I was wondering about your tomatoes. I've got lots of Cherries but the slicers are still "green'r than gourds"... as they say down the road just a piece. My favorite saying is "They ain't done yet."
