Today's cover shot is a 15 foot tall metal sculpture given to me by some close friends. We spent most of Tuesday building a base and putting it up on my back patio. It's not everyone who has a metal palm tree in a planter box. I have some GREAT but highly eccentric friends.

Glad this is the last day in the 90's.
Carol - It's not supposed to rust... it was sprayed with some finish to prevent that. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Despite how much I love the tropics, I'm starting to get a little tired of the 90s also. Unfortunately, we've probably got another month of them!!!
yeah, I know there will probably be several more 90 days, but at least we get a little break between them.
I love summer too, but it's better when we can get out in the yard, or wherever without getting sun stroke.
My son did the Seattle to Portland bike ride last weekend IN ONE DAY!!
I told him it was crazy...it was 98 and he was nauseous the last 50 miles. They're route was 204 miles!!!!!

Carol - LOL! I didn't even notice. I was like "...whu???" & had to go back & look. But, beyond that, your son has to be defective to do that kind of mileage in that kind of heat! I'd be curled up in a ball, whimpering, under a shady tree!!!
I as much as told him he was 'defective'...takes after his father that way (and no, Joe is not his father). Besides he's no spring chicken anymore either, even though he is in great shape. He has been training for several years on his bike and a few weeks ago did 158 miles. My butt hurts just thinking about it!!
Ummmmmmmm.... How many tire changes would 158 miles be??? I can't EVEN imagine....
Carol - According to its paperwork, the steel is zinc coated... even the welds... to prevent rust. The color finish was added over that. The fronds and coconuts are powder coated. It will have to get a deep scratch to allow any rusting even on the trunk. It was done by a northwest artist and is intended for outside display. We'll see!
Well, it looks like it is...an original. Should be with you for many a year.
By the by, whatever happened to that phallic totem/statue you used to show as your avitar? "Debauchee"
Carol Ahhhh... My twin from The Society Islands in French Polynesia! He is now serving as a totem for Bloody Mary's in Bora Bora. ☺

Carol - The drawback to the large yard being nice is that it requires a LOT of maintenance. I have a little over an acre landscaped and it seems like I just get finished with it and I have to start over again.
I know that sculpture. It was made by a guy here in Umatilla and he had it in his yard for several months. Small world.
