I know I don't have to say it but the Crocosmia plants don't like excessive water so don't over water them during this warm weather. Of course, dry is out and not an option and being newly planted, they need water. Here's where your good drainage does its job. Moist or slightly damp soil is okay but standing water or soupy mud is out. Just give them a little drink once or twice a day during the warm weather and they'll be fine. ☻
Mr. Ed, the plants are in the ground and our ground is clay. The holes were nice and wide and deep enough to add loose soil before putting the plants in. I just hope the drainage is enough. We have auto sprinklers in front that run every other day so they will not dry out in this heat. I'll keep checking on them to be sure they are just moist enough. I am kept busy watering all my many pots on the back patio and the 4 on the front porch, plus 2 just off the porch that sit in/on the ground.
Carol - I'm just a worrywart. I tend to over compensate for heat with over watering.... and I just assume everybody else does the same thing. The Crocosmia just doesn't like standing water but you know enough about plants that you're not going to have problems with them.

Mariposa's been very quiet since hubby went on his family thingy. Wonder what she's up to...
She is heading to the doctor after work. Really bad sinus infection. Need something to clear it up so I can breathe.
Mariposa - Sorry to hear you're not well. Drugs are the only answer!
Mariposa, Live better thru chemistry as the old saying goes.
Sure hope you get what you need to get back to being your healthy self.
OMG antibiotics, steroids, cough syrup, and nasal spray. All that for a sinus infection.
Mariposa - Wow! Now you know what to look forward to if you ever get SICK!!!!
Mariposa - Ummmmmmmmm..... Is the cough syrup the "happy" kind with codein???????????????
No it isn't. I'm still taking my OTC stuff for a couple more days so I can breathe.
