Today's cover shot: The second in what will be a series of Sunday only shots of vintage buildings that catch my eye. They all have a story to tell if we listen.
A busy day in the woods here in the swamp today. We've got a major fire burning about ten miles from mi casa and so far it's a long way from being controlled. The 36 Pit Fire is burning in fairly steep terrain and is requiring a lot of hand work and aerial drops of retardant to knock it down. But, with any luck, they'll get it under control fairly quickly. This fire grew from about thirty acres this morning to over a thousand acres by nightfall.... all in the Mt. Hood National Forest. I just stop breathing anytime a fire breaks out but everything is extremely dry right now so it's even worse. This fire is being blamed on careless target shooters but they haven't identified exactly what set it off.
