Mr Ed, is it too early to transplant my lilies from pots to the ground? I can't seem to find a clear explanation on line. Also some sites say don't water, some say water. Now the leaves are turning yellow and dropping and I read this is not good. Help.
Carol - Plant them now. Mid September to mid October is ideal. Remove the dead leaves. The transplants should be watered but not over watered... about an inch per week is perfect. Cover them with about two inches of mulch if you have it. Good luck!
I am bringing in the Purple Fountain Grass pots and keeping them upstairs where they will get window light, and be cool (not cold) and then come Spring, I'll take them back to the patio. I am so glad I found out they are not perennial in our climes.

Carol I think the problem with the Purple Fountain Grass is that it has very shallow roots & can't stand cold temps.
Mr.Ed, that's true about the Fountain grass...but if you bring it in, it will over-winter just fine.
First quarter score Buckeyes over Bearcats 23-7
Half time buckeyes up 30-21. We've got a game on our hands.
Mariposa - Didn't have time to keep track. How's Barrett doing?
Final score 50-28. Barrett did just fine.
It's a good thing I didn't expect my Beavs to win against USC. They're down by eleven at the half.
Final - No surprise - USC 35-10
Ducks have a bye & then play next Thursday.
