Tuesday! Another day........
Today's cover shot: An Autumn look at our tired old mountain before it's gets its fresh coat of snow that will make it 'pretty'!
The weather 'guru's' are saying it will be a warm winter, no snow. I don't know how they can predict that but it sounds like there could be drought conditions if the snow pack is minimal.
Carol - Since they're WRONG about 90% of the time, let's hope the gurus are as correct about the snow prediction as they usually are about the weather. My 'hope' is for us to get enough snow to provide next years water but not so much that I have to shovel it. Regardless, I think Mt. Hood will look lovely no matter how much 'pancake' she gets.
Our pesky 36 Pit fire is still at 5500 acres this morning & the lines are holding. Got a few sprinkles overnight but they say rain is on the way... Come on RAIN!!!!!!
It smells like wet ashes out here in the boonies this morning. I guess that's a 'good' thing!

Carol - Yep! It started about an hour ago. It's still pretty light but everything has to start somewhere.
By the way.. for you and Mariposa... Thank you for the rain thoughts! (and dance????) I don't know if it helped but I'm sure it didn't hurt.

OK I'm putting the feet up now. So glad to hear the rain showed up.
To put the 36 Pit fire into perspective:
The fire reached 5500 acres. At 640 acres to the square mile that amounts to slightly less than 9 square miles... a patch approximately 3 miles by 3 miles...
At no point were my properties in any direct danger from the fire But when it jumped the Clackamas River I started getting very nervous. At that point, with a STRONG east wind, the fire could have made a straight line run to my properties in less than three hours. But, at its closest point to my properties there was still approximately 100 thousand acres(roughly 10 miles) between me and it.
I don't mean to trivialize it but in reality I was never in any DIRECT threat... just nervous. It's still not out but with any luck (and the rain) it will be in a day or two.
