It's FINALLY here! TGIF!!!

Today's cover shot: Another critter captured on one of my game cameras. This is NOT the same Black Bear I had a month or so ago. This one has different color markings on his face... definitely not the same guy. I think he/she is another refugee from the 36 Pit fire and is just looking for someplace more friendly to spend the winter... or possibly longer. I definitely don't want to encourage them to hang around but I'm somewhat at a loss on how to prevent it. As long as they don't have to leave the comfort of their offices in Salem, Fish & Game doesn't care if I have a few bears more than I had a couple of months ago. But, at this point I'm not even sure I still have the original two hanging around. I haven't seen either of them in a long time so it's possible they have already moved on. I can only HOPE!!!!! In the meantime, I'm always literally "loaded for bear" anytime I'm out 'n about.

Such an adorable face.

Mariposa - Adorable isn't one of the words that came to MY mind....

Yikes, I wouldn't want that fella sticking his nose under my tent!

Monday is fast approaching and my plane leaves at 8:30am. My sister is taking me to a huge 'cruise in' on Thursday...about 600 old cars are on display. Az is a hot bed (no pun intended) for classic car collectors. It's weather accounts for most of that, plus the 'snow birds' have money.

Okay so maybe he's hungry.

Mariposa - ding, ding, ding, ding, ding........... We have a WINNER! Hungry! Do I look like bear bait? Don't want to be THAT!!! That's a BAD thing!

Carol - The cruise-in sounds perfect for an Az trip. They're always fun. Just watch out for the flash floods and the killer bees.... not necessarily in that order!

Not much chance of a big flash flood in Havasu. That is mostly in Phoenix, along with their dust storms. Don't know why anyone would live there.

Carol - The Phoenix area gets the flash floods because of the Superstition Mountains. It rains up high and just flushes down the canyons to the dry creekbeds and arroyos below. I lived in Scottsdale for a while back in the 70s... didn't leave a thing behind when I left. My only connection to Az at this point is the property at Quartzsite and Salome & I just can't figure out what to do with either of them.

Carol - If you happen to see a VERY CLEAN '57 Ford Fairlane 500 2door Hard Top for sale at considerably less than 100 Grand....... get a name & number. I'm STILL looking....

Mr Ed...I wrote that info about the '57 Ford Fairlane down. I'll keep an eye out for one :)

Don't know where your properties are in relation to Havasu but I know the whole area around Havasu is BLEAK. Havasu City is very pretty, and the lake is lovely. So many of the homes are beautiful!! Love the colors there; orange, yellow, fushia, turquoise, mint green...etc. That is what inspired me to paint my guest bedroom in ORANGE. I just love it!!

Carol - Lake Havasu is about 70 or 80 miles due north from Quartzsite & Salome. Quartzsite & Salome area is mostly just dry & dusty desert. It's pretty in its own way but I don't particularly like cactus, snakes, & horned toads and definitely wouldn't want to live there!

Mr.Ed, I agree, while the city itself is pretty, the WHOLE surrounding area is as you said. Too dry, too hot, too ugly - I see trailers parked here and there in the 150 miles between LV and Havasu and wonder what kind of person could live in a TRAILER there. Guess it really does take all kinds.

The shuttle stops in Searchlight, Nev so we get a break in the journey between the 2 places. In thinking it over carefully, taking my age into consideration, I know the shuttle is the best way for me to go. It's only $100 for a round trip. With my lack of directional abilities, it was the only choice.

Carol - I think I told you before about the mini-cities of RV campers on public desert lands.... hundreds of them lined up & dry camping. They estimate that the population of Arizona increases by a million people during the snowbird season. Not for me!!!!
