The squirrel in the cover shot is a Ground Squirrel... one of the smaller types. I've got quite a few of them here at Mi Casa. They're much less destructive and obnoxious than the larger gray or red ones.
Carol - (Left over from Thursday) If they're going to continue to use the turbines perhaps they need a grill type cage around the blades to prevent the birds getting hit.... kinda like the enclosure that is standard on household box fans. I never realized the blade tips have speeds of 170 mph. They certainly don't look like they are rotating that fast. But, they are UGLY and I would never allow them on my property!!!
Mr.Ed, I tried to open that link you put in yesterday about the wind turbines but it wouldn't open. It's ok...I got the gist of it from the news report.
You are right, they really are a blight on the landscape.
Mariposa, know you will enjoy your time off. Do you get time off in the better weather months too?
We have lots (and lots) of these cute ground squirrels. I love them but many people think they are a nuisance. They will nibble on bulbs in certain circumstances but they haven't done too much of that in our yard.

T.G.I.F. I just need to get through today. Then a whole week off.
Today's cover shot: There are some days when you're just too tuckered out....
Mariposa - Any plans for the week off? Jamaica's nice this time of year!
