That's why they are the Dog Days! Thank goodness we're still in a short cool spell. Temps are supposed to go up again for the weekend but I need some rain pretty soon. My guys ran an assessment Monday and yesterday and have determined that I've lost about 1000 of my first year trees due to the long dry spell and heat. Of course, the rabbits & deer contributed to about ¼ of that. Losing some is expected and it's no big loss financially but it's a lot of work having to replant it again. It just makes it tougher when the replacements are spread out over a large area because the planters have to carry their load a longer distance and it tires them out quicker. It's just another day in the life of a tree farmer. I don't worry too much until I start losing second or third year trees. That's when it starts hurting!!!!

Happy Hump Day!!! Now all that's left is the rapid descent to the weekend............
Hoping for a break in the heat. I don't like these August like temps.
