It's been a rough week. My niece lost her battle with cancer. It is a relief that she is no longer in pain, but the loss still leaves a large hole in the heart.
Today is my final day at home before tomorrow's big Carribe vacation. So, today will be the last day I have dependable, very high speed internet available for a couple of weeks. The Carribe depends exclusively upon satellite connections which are incredibly slow and dependent upon satellite locations. Just connecting to a satellite often takes an hour or sometimes two to accomplish.
Long story short: I fly out late tonight to Dallas and Houston to catch a boat. Then, it's all over the map. If I run into land based internet somewhere I will check in. If not, the Shed is programmed for autopilot with whatever input I can provide. I wish I could promise more than that but it's all I have. It will be pretty much like my trip to Australia but much shorter.... just two weeks this time.
I'm taking my side-dish along... she insisted. I don't think she trusts me with all those long legged tropical beach tanned beauties. Or, maybe she'll end up with a tall blonde haired surfboarding beach boy.... Anyway, my schedule calls for lots of Rum, sun, and relaxation.... pretty much in that order.
I know it won't happen easily but the pain of losing your niece will get better.... promise! Mourn her loss but celebrate the life she gave you while she was here...
Thank you. The memorial service will be Monday. I work with a minister and he will do the service for her. He is letting us use his church, and said he will have a meal ready for us afterwards. My sister wants to do a balloon launch. Lucky for us I work for the right company. I asked my boss what kind of a deal I could get on helium, and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
My sister is doing pretty good. It is a relief for her. She no longer will have to worry quite so much. Now if I could only get the rest of her kids in line all would be well.

Mariposa - I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. Carry her in your heart and your thoughts and never let that go........
