We are driving out to Sauvie Island this afternoon to get some fresh, JUICY, peaches and some green beans and whatever else we can find that sounds good and screams SUMMER. :)
Never having bought a car myself I don't know how the license plate dealy works but I sort of thought they were mailed to you or to the dealer. Did you go all the way to Salem to buy your car?
Carol - From where I live, Salem is actually closer than Portland and the dealers were more willing to work out a real deal. My extended warranty and maintenance were extras the dealer threw in to make the sale. I'll never have to pay for any service for as long as I own the car. They'll even replace the windshield wipers twice a year if I want. It was a pretty good deal for me and the dealers in Portland wouldn't even come close.
Also, there are a couple of dealers in Portland that I WON'T deal with at all due to their reputations. I would never buy a car from them... period.
In Oregon, car dealers do all the DMV paperwork & they get the plates from the state. I could have had them mailed to me but I chose to have them put them on. Besides, I had a couple of questions I wanted to ask their service techs. It gave me a chance to learn a little more about the way the car's stuff worked. The car I bought didn't come with a published owner's manual... It's preloaded into the car's navigation/entertainment system. Their parts department could have sold me one but I went online & downloaded & printed one for free. I just had a couple of questions about stuff that wasn't covered.

Carol - Sounds like a FUN afternoon. I'm off to Salem to get my new plates. Just another wasted day at a car dealership.
