Today's cover shot: Palouse Falls comes directly out of a basalt face to the canyon floor 200 feet below. The Palouse is part of the Snake/Columbia River system.

Seems so funny for it to be Sat again, the weeks go by tooooooo fast. How do I put on the brakes???

Carol - Didn't you ever watch The Flintstones?????? Not sayin' it'll work but nothing else seems to help. I have observed however that the older you get, the faster time seems to go by. Despite what the brainiaks think, I think time is not linear! It's actually a decreasing radius curve and the farther into it you get, the faster you go. I wonder if seatbelts are required for the last little bit!

Yeah, I stick my foot out but it doesn't seem to help. I think you have something there about the radius curve. Guess it's time to strap on the ol' seat belt.

Carol - Oregon's highway engineers are famous for the decreasing radius turn concept. When driving your car, you can never exit a highway turn at the same speed you are able to drive it during the first part. I think they use a coil spring as a design template. You always have to slow during the turn to keep from throwing yourself, your stuff, and passengers around as it tightens up. I don't think they deliberately do it so much as they're just too stupid to not do it. They start making a turn and simply run out of space so they tighten it up in order to be able to make the needed connections. Have you ever noticed that I seem to have too much time on my hands to think about STUFF!!!!!
