Today's cover shot: This pic was inspired by Carol's comment about the leaf coloring yellow and turning brown from stress, heat, and lack of moisture. I saw this and decided I had to 'shoot' it.......
For the first time since 36 Pit fire broke out, I think there is a chance of it being brought under control. They have put a massive number of 'boots on the ground' today with about 800 firefighters on the ground today on the fire and the weather is taking a turn toward WET! The command center says they were able to maintain the fire's size at about 3600 acres overnight with no breakouts so I'm optimistic!
Carol - I attended a public meeting they had in Estacada & didn't pull any punches with them. I don't think anything I said made any difference to them but it felt good to get it off my chest and to tell them point-blank that they were 'bumbling idiots'! I HATE Politics and that's all this has been! Until this thing blew up completely out of control, the feds were only concerned with protecting their precious "assets"... the campgrounds and RV areas. They thought the river and the highway would be enough to contain it. That fire was throwing burning sparks for a mile and they didn't have the manpower & equipment to deal with it. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Mr Ed, at least you had your say. It's more than most of us get.
I've been known to shoot e-mail off to certain people but like you, I know it probably won't do anything to change the problem but it made me feel better.

Maybe the 'powers that be' heard your comments on their ineptitude and finally got their *^%# together.
That puts a whole new spin on keeping the home fires burning.
