Today's cover shot: Leave it to the smoke from an active forest fire to provide exactly what is needed for a spectacular sunset. Add the Crepuscular Rays and voilĂ ...... Oh! And no beating around the bush.... Summer is HISTORY!!! The calendar clicked over and Autumn is the season du jour!
36 Pit is at 5500 acres this morning and still only about 45% contained. It gained about 800 acres overnight. I don't want to be an alarmist but if we don't get a break from the weather pretty soon, I could be in serious trouble. I've done what I can with my fire lines so all that's left now is in the hands of the fire crews and to hope for rain. If the forecast is right that could happen late tonight.
36 Pit has slowed a lot today and they're saying it's still at 5400 acres this afternoon. The weather forecast is still for rain but now they're saying it will rain pretty much all day tomorrow once it starts later tonight. I've got to work on my 'rain dance'! Think RAIN!!!!!
Carol - It jumped the Clackamas bigtime and it's been an all-out fight all day. The fire crews dug in though and so far they are holding it. They built a new fire line and so far so good. They've got about a thousand fire fighters & ton of equipment on it so it's hopeful... especially if it starts to RAIN. There already have been some light showers but I'm hoping for some good old fashioned RAIN. This is starting to get too close for comfort! Not that I was going anywhere anyway but they cancelled most of their evacuation orders this afternoon so things are looking better.
