We went there a few years ago..nice drive, once you leave the freeway. It's amazing how the vegetation has come back, but you can really get a feeling of what it must have looked like 30+ years ago. We went in the visitors info area too. It is sort of scary being so close to the crater. My imagination takes off :)
Carol - "Off the beaten path" is the world I love. Up until a few years ago I used to ride snowmobiles on St. Helens(Plains of Abraham). I also had property close by when the mountain blew but I have long since gotten rid of everything in Washington.
Mariposa - Left over from yesterday: It's hard to explain but when I spread her ashes I got a very warm feeling that reuniting her with my uncle was a good thing. They were so close and she really suffered when he died.

Today's cover pic: At the base of what's left of Mt. St. Helens, what's left of Spirit Lake still exists.
Have a GREAT Hump Day!
